"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
- Mark Twain
Well, it is already March 2010 - how is that possible?! We all said 2010 is going to be the best year, that the recession will end, that business will boom, this will be the year we learn a foreign language, travel to an exotic destination, kick a bad habit. So, with the year almost be 1/4 over, have you taken the steps needed to reach your goal? I find it easier to compartmentalize my goals into small, manageable tasks at a time, that sometimes the big picture looks like it looms much too far out on the road ahead, and it would be easy to make excuses, or are faced with a detour and decide to turn around. The idea is progression however, to always keep moving forward, no matter if you have go over the obstacle, around it and in some cases, tear it down. Yes, you have to have rest stops along the way, to regain that enthusiasm that you were burning with when you started, if you are on the right road, however, the enthusiasm usually isn't the hard part to find. The point is not to look at where you've been before, but at the horizon ahead - the mile marker starts at 1 but you determine where it finishes. Oh, and there's that thing they say, life's about the journey not the destination...so don't forget to enjoy the ride...
