A Celebration was held Friday, March 3 in honor of the grand opening of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. This bridge has to be the most dramatic addition to the Dallas skyline yet. This bridge commemorates the late philanthropist, Margaret Hunt Hill and designed by the visionary architect Santiago Calatrava.
The celebration consisted of headlining band Lyle Lovett, and and parade of 14 foot Calatrava inspired costume designs, local food, tastings from Trinity Grove's award winning chefs, speciality drinks and great entertainment. The award winning Street Corner Symphony performed followed by a firework show and the lighting of the bridge.
The bridge rises above the Trinity River 400 feet and is composed of 58 cables some to be eight inches thick which extend in weblike sweeps to either side. This bridge now provides easy access from downtown to the neighborhood of West Dallas.
